Oakland Raiders Implode

Just wanted to take a moment to unload a bit on how I feel about today's game against K.C.

Boller should be cut. Period. An absolute ridiculous show of a backup who "knows" the offense. In hindsight I think Pryor would've been a better start.

The Coach - Didn't stay with the run when Bush was doing it all.  Wasting 1 or 2 downs each and every series on the deep ball.  We could've had 200+ yards on the ground.

I'm pissed.

Oakland Raiders

We got the big win last week against the Philadelphia Eagles.  Now it's time to put together an actual winning streak. Imagine that. . .

Oakland fans have suffered for far too long. I am one of the many who has.  As big of a win that was against Philly, for me it was huge since I reside in a suburb of Philadelphia and hear their talk resounding across the radiowaves nonstop.

This one was special to me so I could hear all the talk excuses for the Eagles loss.  Oakland Raiders win period. Jamarcuss Russell led a team possessed; especially the defense. What can I say there. A complete game.

Gotta leave it there but so many thoughts on the win.

Oakland Raiders 2009

In many ways my life through the past 6 years has been empty. No playoffs. With each win, or perhaps more often- a loss, my life has spun deeper and deeper into a black void . Not a pleasant place for me- For any one.

I love the Raiders, their mystique. . .Everything.  And this cold spell brings upon anger and depression that. . .I better stop.

Red Wings Collapse

Who wants to be the conference's #1 seed?  Anyone, anyone at all.  The recent play of both the Detoit Red Wings and the San Jose Sharks say, "Nah, you go ahead and take the top spot. "

At this point, I don't care; really.  The playoffs are approaching - quickly .  Sure there are some banged up bodies; it's March (of course there is!)  and the defensive lapses we have seen thus far are a reason for concern.

The offense looks good -Great at times,  27% on the power play is hard to stop, but how many goals are we going to allow?  They come from every possible way:  Lack of tenacity, poor decisions with  the puck, poor decisions without the puck, goaltending, inopertune penalties. . . You name it.

The last two Saturday games the Wings just didn't show up.  Tonight against Calgary they just plain let up.  This can't happen over and over or it's going to be a very short post season.

Yell Babs, Fix this thing, now!

Red Wings Struggle

The story of a Stanley Cup Champion.  A difficult road of a team with a bullseye squarely on its back.

Suspect goaltending, Poor defensive zone commitment are commonplace to the reigning Cup Champs.

The most disturbing to me is the Detroit Red Wings could be ( clear throat ) tied with the the Chicago Blackhawks in the Central Division come 4 pm on Jan 1rst. The Winter Classic could be the turning point of the season.  It WILL BE, in my opinion, for the better.

The Wings need something to push them. The Hawks' impressive play was admirable until they showed they could actually challenge us. We rose to challenge of the San Jose Sharks (6-0) need I remind anyone? We will rise to this and any that may come our way.

Get Well Soon #5 Nick  ( #1 In My Book!)

Happy New Year to All

Red Wings : Pre Holiday Thoughts

DatelineHockeytown  Saturday November 22, 2008

Through 18 games thus far of the 2008-09 Detroit Red Wings schedule, the team from Motown is sitting pretty yet again upon the hill known as the Norris  Central Division.  The past 10 games has brought us a 7-1-2 record with a 4 game winning streak while in the midst of a western Canada road trip.  The only team seriously challenging the Winged Wheel for overall points is the San Jose Sharks.  The New York Rangers may have the most points but they've played many more games than anyone and - they usually pack their bags early.   So. here are my findings so far...

 1) Power Play - 34.2%  (Are you kidding me)  The next best team is the St Louis Blues coming in at 24%
 2) Penalty Kill - 81.6%  Middle of the pack here...the problem I see here is not with any one player- It's the quantity  Stop the Stupid penalties! 3) Goaltending -  No real problem here. see number 4.
 4) Defense - Having trouble holding a lead.  I'd rather not get down on the defense players individually ( except Lilja ) since we employ a team                               defense with forwards playing an integral part. >Back to basics ... Smart play before the pretty play.

Around The League

Surprises:

  1)  The Dallas Stars at the bottom of the conference  league!  How does that happen?  With Morrow just now going down with a torn ACL,        things might not improve as quickly as Dallas likes or needs.

  2)  Los Angeles Kings -  Third in their division and 11th in the western conference.  Way to go...Seriously.

  3)  Martin Brodeur  - No Big time goalie for the New Jersey Devils may mean Big Time problems for the boys from Newark.  This opens up the Atlantic Division which is not good for the Devils.

A Happy Holiday Season For All

Red Wings Bye Week???

I like hockey - an awful lot.  Not just the Red Wings, but All teams... O.K. NOT the Avalanche OR Ducks             ...So, when the schedule came out a ways back you can understand my dismay at this weeks Detroit's game's - or should I say - Lack of game's.

I see a game on Sunday and the following Saturday but...  ?

With the Big Red Machine playing atypical on defense this actually looked good for a moment,  time to practice get the Winged Wheel running with the precision that you and I demand and expect.

Then we see that Detroit plays 3 games in 4 nights after the New Jersey Devils.

<table height="64" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2" border="0" width="479"> <tbody> <tr height="17" align="right" valign="middle" class="bg2"> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="right"> </td> </tr> <tr height="17" align="right" valign="middle" class="bg2"> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="right"> </td> </tr> <tr height="17" align="right" valign="middle" class="bg2"> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="left"> </td> <td align="right" /> </tr> </tbody> </table>
Am I  crazy - Don't answer that!

With the long season that the NHL has I do realize that there's bound to be some glitches but c'mon boys!!

I really don't like to b!+ch & moan because this week the Wings will get well.  Just wanted to vent because I want my Red Wings.

Red Wings: West Coast Trip

Decent start to the recent Detroit Red Wings west coast trip.  The first one of the new season. A few observations thus far ...

   1)  Defense. Out of sync. Perfect time to get healthy against the likes of the San Jose Sharks and the the Anaheim Ducks

   2)  Goalie. Ty Conklin has got to play, just not so often. I realize Bab's wanted to get him in but let Ozzie rest in February and March.
   3)  Marion Hossa. What can I say? Looks like the player who we thought he was - Crown his a$$!

Last night the defense was still suspect. Improvement is seriously needed.  The next two games will show us a lot.  One thing that has been reinforced upon me the last two games is our shootout skill.  When one team can put Pavel Datsyuk, Henrik Zetterberg, and Marion Hossa back to back to back ... that my friend's is some scary stuff.
